Ricochet Infinity

The Richochet series of breakout-style arcade games from Reflexive Entertainment have become classics of the genre, featuring graphics and game play that quickly made the series a favorite in offices and homes across the world. The games in this series have included Ricochet Xtreme, Ricochet Lost Worlds, and Ricochet Lost Worlds: Recharged.

Now there a new edition in this popular series, Ricochet Infinity, which re-invents the genre and will forever change the way you think about brick-busting games.

Ricochet Infinity introduces a new way to play the game by putting the player in direct control of the ball. Instead of waiting for the ball to return to the paddle, with ‘Recall’ players can at any time, change the ball’s direction, giving full control during every second of the game, and not just when the ball hits the paddle.

“Once you play Ricochet with the new Recall ability, there is no going back,” said Ion Hardie, Lead Level Designer on Ricochet Infinity. “It enhances the game play so much you’ll wonder how you played a brick-busting game without it.”

Like previous Ricochet games, Ricochet Infinity has been created with community in mind, enabling gamers to create and share levels with other players all over the world. Unlike previous Ricochet games, players can now download, rate and tag new levels without ever leaving the game. Unique to Ricochet Infinity, this new ability to directly download levels from within the game makes it easier than ever before for players to trade levels. Players will be able to watch and see the levels they create climb through the ranks of the most downloaded levels, and perhaps become the next online sensation.

“Ricochet Infinity has an endless supply of new levels being created by a very diverse group of imaginative level designers from around the world,” said James C. Smith, lead developer and creator of Ricochet. “The flexibility of the Infinity scripting engine enables very unique types of levels to be created. With hundreds of new level being released each month, Ricochet Infinity’s ability to sort, rate and tag levels becomes an invaluable tool to find the levels you want to play.”

Reflexive Entertainment hasn’t contented itself with creating what is essentially the world’s first Web 2.0 game and making it more fun and playable than any other game in its class by adding direct ball control. Ricochet Infinity also features a whole new array of devastating power-ups to go along with all the old favorites, new stunning graphics that await you as you travel to unknown alien worlds, a techno-pumped soundtrack, over 200 included levels from the world’s best level designers, the addition of new vector art and scripting tools to what was already the world’s best level editor, trophies, achievements, ball skins, player character development, 24 different ships each with special abilities, Mouse Party™ for same machine competitive and cooperative multiplayer play, and Ricochet’s new mascot, an alien companion to keep you company.

Help Protect Animal Habitats With Venture Africa

Posted May 28, 2007 @ 8:40 pm - Filed under: News

Wildlife Tycoon: Venture AfricaPocketwatch Games has donated 4% of the income generated in 2006 by Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa to The WILD Foundation, a Boulder, CO based non-profit dedicated to protecting animal habitats in Africa.

Pocketwatch Games will also motivate others to support The WILD Foundation by providing a link to the WILD website in their upcoming game, Venture Arctic.

Pocketwatch Games has described the “Venture” series of PC/Mac video games as the ultimate “Interactive Nature Documentaries”. The games allow players to create and control animals in a variety of biomes around the world. Venture Arctic also requires players to deal with challenges facing modern ecosystems such as global warming and deforestation.

“When we released Venture Africa, we made a promise to our customers that we would help to protect the animals that inspired us,” said Andy Schatz, CEO and Founder of Pocketwatch Games. “I know our donation to The WILD Foundation is working directly to protect the precious animal habitats in Africa.”

The cash donation is significant since it is coming from an independent video game studio. Typically, “indie” studios operate on such a small budget that they cannot afford to make charitable contributions. Pocketwatch Games founder Andy Schatz was the sole programmer and designer of Venture Africa (PC), which had a total development budget of 8,000 dollars.

The WILD Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Boulder, Colorado. WILD works internationally to protect and sustain wilderness and wildlife while meeting the needs of human communities. For more information, visit www.wild.org.
